Baby and Me Breastfeeding

Are you looking for somewhere to hang out and meet other breastfeeding moms? Are you expecting a baby soon and want to learn more about breastfeeding from experienced, trained peer volunteers? Come and visit the new Baby & Me Breastfeeding drop in. Breastfeeding Buddies will be available to answer breastfeeding questions, provide support and share community resources. Infant Drop-In

Whether you have questions, are looking for up to date information and referrals to community professionals or want to connect with other new or experienced parents in our Play and Learn drop in and program room. It is never too early to visit an Ontario Early Years Centre.

Me Breastfeed?*

2017 July to December Calendar

The Me Breastfeed? workshop is a free breastfeeding class for prenatal families that is facilitated by trained Breastfeeding Buddy Volunteers. Peer facilitators are moms with lived breastfeeding experience and have taken the World Health Organization Peer Breastfeeding Course. During this workshop expectant moms and their partners and or support person, will learn about the first 7 days after birth, breastfeeding positions, how to overcome breastfeeding challenges, and the value of breastfeeding for the whole family.

Parent Together Drop-In

Is your child attending an Early Learning program? At school? A sleeping baby? Parents and caregivers can meet to share ideas, parenting challenges and receive peer support from other parents and caregivers in our drop in room with support from an Early Years educator if needed. Areas will be available for you to relax, read, or connect.

Parenting My New Baby (newborn to 12 months)

Having a new baby is a time of change, discovery and often many questions. We invite you and your baby to come out and meet other families with babies for discussion around a variety of topics. An Early Years Professional will offer up to date information/resources and support. This program requires pre-registration. Registration is ongoing. Positive Discipline (Parents and Caregivers)

Dates: 6 Week Session Thursday, September 28 - November 2

Positive Discipline is an approach to parenting that focuses on guiding behaviour that respects a child's rights to healthy development, protection from violence, and participation in their learning. Positive Discipline is based on research on healthy child development and effective parenting, and is founded on children's rights principles. This program is offered in partnership with Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre and the YMCA Early Years. This is a 7 week program. Please note this session is for parents and other adults caring for children. Babies in arms are welcome. Registration is now closed.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Adjustment Support

This peer support program is offered in partnership with Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre and is geared to pregnant and postpartum mothers with an infant under age 2 and adjusting to the changes and challenges of parenthood.

Participants will have the chance to:

  • Discussing copying strategies to help get through difficult days
  • Meet other mothers who are experiencing the same feelings
  • Develop friendships
  • Learn about other community programs
  • Strengthen connections with their infants

Preparing for Parenthood Program*

The Preparing for Parenthood program offers free prenatal information and support on a variety of topics whether you are planning a pregnancy or are already expecting.  Partners and support people are welcome.  The Brochure contains details on times and locations. This program requires pre-registration. Sleep and Your New Baby*

Region of Waterloo Public Health and the Waterloo Region Ontario Early Years Centres are inviting you and your baby to a free session to help you get to know more about your baby's sleep patterns and how to respond. This program is for parents of newborns from birth to 12 weeks of age. Check out the link for dates, times and registration details.

Toilet Learning (Parent Workshop)*
