Youth Programs

Join a registered program for weeks of focus and fun. Small group programs for youth offer:

  • More attention for each participant thanks to lower staff ratios
  • Greater skill development with weekly progression
  • A huge smile and take-home project or final event at the end of the session

 

Specialty Programs (Winter 2019)

 

Ballet (4-6 years)

YMCA Members: $31.50

Monday 4:15-5:00pm

January 14th – March 4th (7 weeks, no class on Family Day)

Class focus on overall body alignment and awareness on proper usage of feet and legs, and execution of turn out

 

 

Clay Creations (7-12 years)

Monday 4:15-5:00pm

Class focuses on the learning how to work with clay to create and paint a variety of creations.

 

Art Frenzy (4-6 years)

YMCA Members: $36

Tuesday 4:15-5:00pm

January 15th – March 5th (8 weeks)

Each week get the chance to make a different to try a different art medium like painting, drawing or clay.

 

Chess Club (7-12 years)

Tuesday 7:15-8:00pm

January 15th – March 5th (8 weeks)

Introduction to the pieces: their movements, their values, capturing, good and bad trades; the goals and rules of chess, but the main focus is on ensuring that the pieces and movements are learned.

 

 

Youth Conditioning (7-12 years)

Wednesday 5:45-6:30pm

January 16th – March 6th (8 weeks)

Class focuses on proper exercise technique and principles of training; they will receive a bodyweight fitness program. Program meets in Conditioning Centre.

 

Yoga (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $36

Thursday 5:00-5:45pm

January 17th – March 7th (8 weeks)

A beginner’s yoga class focusing on proper alignment, balance, and strengthening.

 

Hip Hop (7-12 years)

YMCA Members: $36

Friday 5:00-5:45pm

January 18th – March 8th (8 weeks)

Learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop movement in these upbeat and high energy classes. Stretching, isolations, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated.

 

Jazz (4-6 years)

Saturday 9:00-9:45am

January 19th – March 9th (8 weeks)

Introduces beginner and intermediate level techniques, focusing on rhythm, flexibility, speed and body alignment
