Please note that all workshops will be hosted on ZOOM. Time will be included at the end of each workshop for questions and answers. Workshops are free for YMCA members & non-members. Registration information below.


Summer 2021 - July and August

Exercise for Bone Health

MONDAY,  July 19   9:00AM – 10:30AM | Speaker: Katelyn Corke R.Kin and Meagan Meade R.Kin


Join us in a practical workshop to learn more about how bone strength changes over time and how to make daily activities spine safe. We will also explore safe and effective exercises to help maintain your bone health. To get the most out of this workshop please have a broomstick and stable chair ready. There will also be an option to practice ground to standing movements.


MONDAY,  July 26   11:30 AM – 1:00PM | Speaker: Meagan Meade R.Kin


Balance is key to safe movement. If we don’t train for balance as we age, we can lose it. Attend this workshop to increase your understanding of balance training, learn how to incorporate it into your routine, and how it can help you feel more confident on your feet. If you would like to try some of the balance exercises during the workshop, please have a stable surface to hold onto.

Introduction to yoga

MONDAY, August 9  11:00AM – 12:30PM | Speaker: Anne Cadoret, YMCA Personal Trainer, 200 Hour Yoga Training


Interested in trying yoga but unsure where to start? Join Anne to learn yoga basics, including common yoga terms and postures. Breathing techniques and warm-up yoga movements will also be discussed. If you would like to participate in the yoga demonstration, please wear comfortable clothing and have a yoga mat (or non-slip surface) on hand.

Osteoarthritis and Exercise

MONDAY, August 16  6:30PM – 8:00PM | Speaker: Dave Patterson R.Kin


Do you have arthritis? Pain, stiffness and questions? Join us for this workshop to discuss osteoarthritis and the role of exercise in arthritis management. Includes tips on what to do, and how to get started with exercise at home.

Please note that you must register at minimum 2 hours in advance of the workshop start time. Registration for each workshop closes 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the workshop.

1. Use the "Click to Change Date" button to select the date of the workshop you wish to register for.

2. Click on "Filter by Location" and select Virtual Wellness Workshops.

3. Select the workshop that you are interested in, and fill out the form if you are a non-member or simply log in if you are an existing YMCA member.
