Why Give to the YMCA - YMCA of Three Rivers Waterloo Region

Why Give to the YMCA

We realize the importance of positive activities and experiences that promote healthy choices, personal growth and community engagement.

We are committed to transforming Waterloo Region into a healthier community. We provide safe places to learn, play and grow. We create spaces where all can participate, build relationships, and everyone is given the opportunity to reach their potential.

Each of our YMCA programs and services takes a broad approach to health based on the Public Health Agency of Canada's Social Determinants of Health.

Social Determinants of Health are the economic and social conditions that influence the health of people and their communities. Health is determined by many factors such as the state of our physical environment, genetics, education, gender and income. Other factors such as personal health practices and coping skills, healthy child development and relationships with friends, family and community play a key role in overall health, and the YMCA is well positioned to address these issues.

In addition, the YMCA programs and services are based on health equity, that is allowing everyone the opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of social position or circumstances.

The YMCA also cultivates the developmental assets - a series of common sense, positive experiences and qualities that help influence the choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults.

By supporting the YMCA you are part of the effort to make an impact.

When you join thousands of others in our community and make a gift to the YMCA you help us:

  • Provide YMCA programs and services, enhancing health and well being.
  • Remove financial barriers to participation, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential.
  • Pursue capital projects, expanding our capacity to create centres of community.

In all of these cases the YMCA is able to accommodate the specificity with which donors wish to direct their gifts.
