About Us

Too many teens are growing up without the supports and opportunities they need. Today's youth are growing up in increasing complexity and uncertainty with youth unemployment rates double the National average and unprecedented physical and mental health issues.

Furthermore, youth in Cambridge are behind in educational attainment.  By providing help with homework, employment advice, health education, leadership development, life skills coaching and mentorship the YMCA Teen Drop In Zone is growing confidence and empowering youth to discover their potential in a safe inclusive community where they make new friends and build relationships with positive adult role models

Youth Sitting Outside

Opportunities for a Bright Tomorrow

The YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone is committed to creating a safe community where youth can be themselves. It is our goal to help develop healthy, responsible youth who complete high school, make positive lifestyle choices, give back to their community, and find meaningful employment.

The YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone is a dedicated space for youth open year round afterschool and evenings.

Walking through the doors you see a kitchen, pool table, couches, video games, computers, and musical instruments.  We see, the tools to build relationships, create conversation, build trust, develop confidence, problem solve, and help with homework.

A combination of drop-in and purposeful programs creates an environment that allows youth to develop leadership skills, enhance education and explore volunteer and employment opportunities.

Community partners such as public health nurses and employment counsellors have regular hours within the YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone allowing youth to access additional services in an environment where they already feel safe and comfortable.
