Director Message, Ki-Wa-Y Fall 2011

A message from

Camp Ki-Wa-Y Director, Caitie Wright

Hello Ki-Wa-Y Alumni,

My first summer directing Camp Ki-Wa-Y was lots of fun and it felt so great being back "home" at Ki-Wa-Y.

Our family pet, Diego fit right in with the campers and quickly became the "homesick dog" who would visit all the young campers before bedtime to say good night (it was a very special time for him and I!)

The staff and campers truly welcomed me and I'm already looking forward to next summer, and planning is already underway. I learned a lot this year and am looking forward to applying that knowledge next summer.

This was the first summer of our "Shoots and Scores" sports stream. The campers who participated loved the golf, lacrosse and flag football. During the hot weeks, they learned water polo. Next year we'll further develop the program and increase the number of campers, after this very successful introductory year.

The new straw bale cabins are well on their way to completion, and we even had a group of students live in one this September. The program pod looks great and we are looking forward to making use of this fantastic indoor program space next summer.

We are busy planning our First Annual Pond Hockey Tournament and hope that our alumni know some kids who may want to participate!

I hope you enjoy all the very best of what the holidays and winter season have to offer!

Excellent camp experience right from registration through to pick up! Counsellors are great and so is all the staff. Great facilities. I highly recommend this camp to all my friends for their children. I hope my daughter will one day become a counsellor there herself.

I love Camp Ki-Wa-Y!

My son had a great time at camp. This is his first year at residential camp, second year at Ki-wa-y. Can't wait to go again next year. Thanks

Great job Ki-Wa-Y. My daughter had a blast again this summer. See you next year!

My son thoroughly enjoyed his week at camp. Each year he looks forward to going & I know he would live there all summer if he could. He likes the food, activities, & the counsellors.

My daughter had a "blast" at camp! Her councellors were very energetic as well as enthusiastic for her to return again next year ;) There is no doubt that she has found her ultimate summer vacation for the next several years at Camp Ki-Wa-Y.
